Barrett Lake may be small in size, but it's big on dramatic landscape and enjoyment. The lake sits at 9,300 feet and is an easy yet scenic one-mile hike from the Lake George day-use area. The trail follows the Lake George shoreline before heading up its inlet creek. Views of the Mammoth Crest, Red Cone and Crystal Crag can be seen through the trees along the way, and wildflowers are abundant when in season. The surrounding pine forest shades the lakeshore, creating a fantastic picnic spot. Barrett Lake is an outstanding destination for families, dog walkers or beginner hikers and is popular among Lake George campers.
