At 10,364 feet, Crystal Crag is a dramatic and rugged mass of rock that is a recognizable landmark on the Mammoth Crest. The crag is a popular destination among mountaineers and climbers and sits above Lake George and Crystal Lake. A Class 3 climbing route can be accessed from the west face, though only experienced climbers should attempt the summit. Crystal Crag is a photogenic granite monolith that can be viewed from many areas in the Lakes Basin. The nearest access point is the Lake George day-use area; take the Crystal Lake Trail up for a closer look.
