The Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center Trailhead is perfect for anyone seeking a great central location to start their outdoor adventures. With ample parking and free reliable transit service, the Welcome Center Trailhead is a gateway to trails, parks and pathways. From this trailhead you can ride, hike or roll the Main Street Connector multi-use pathway. Main Street Connector provides access to over 18 miles of paved pathways, including the Shady Rest Path, Town Loop, and Lakes Basin Path. In winter the Welcome Center Trailhead is the starting point for the Shady Rest Winter Trails. The Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center and Ranger Station is open to the public to obtain permits, view interpretive kiosks/maps with information on local history, wildlife, geology, skiing, lodging, and more. The Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association operates the welcome center bookstore for purchases of books, maps and art from local artists.
