Throughout the summer season, local advocacy and stewardship group Friends of the Inyo offers in-depth geological tours of the Mammoth Lakes Basin with trained interpretive specialists. Learn about the dynamic geology of the region, the historic forces that shaped this landscape and the many forces still active and underway. Meet your guide at the Horseshoe Lake parking area. Tours are approximately 2 hours long and involve a short, scenic hike through mixed-conifer forest to spectacular McLeod Lake. Bring sunscreen, water and snacks for the trail!
