This is a fun and scenic cross-country loop on dirt roads with no major gains or losses in elevation and big views of the San Joaquin Ridge and the Owens River Headwaters. From the Inyo Craters turnoff on the Mammoth Scenic Loop, follow signs to the parking area and restrooms at the Inyo Craters Trailhead. The trees here are part of the oldest Jeffrey pine forest in the world. To see the craters, follow the short foot trail up and back. Begin the loop riding southbound, clockwise. At most road junctions, looking carefully, you'll find small "bike diamonds" mounted on trees to mark the way.
