Hiking the paved Lakes Basin Path gives an easy introductory sampling of the beauty of the Mammoth Lakes Basin. Beginning from the Horseshoe Lake parking lot, the path winds through the lodgepole pine forest along the south side of Lake Mary Road. After crossing the road, you are rewarded with a stunning view of Twin Lakes and beyond to the White Mountains. Cross the bridge over the waterfall, then walk up the gradual incline past Lake Mamie to Lake Mary. Watch for horses and bikers. At Lake Mary, take in the view of the lake, Crystal Crag and the Mammoth Crest before heading back the way you came.
